Sowing Joy and Reaping Peace and Love
Sowing Joy and Reaping Peace and Love
I'm feeling fairly quiet these days. And that desire is co-mingling with my desire to shine and be seen.
This season is sacred to me. I suppose they all are but Fall has always been my favourite. Now that I understand more about the energetics of the seasons – and the graceful way in which they cycle – I find that Fall moves me in quiet and deeply, profoundly, transformational ways.
September is always a rush – kids back to school, getting back in the swing after the Summer, lots to do, lots to do – there is a sizzle in the air. It is the height of the harvest season and each day is a valuable opportunity not to be wasted. It can be pretty frantic.
But by the time we get to here – to the end of October – my pace has slowed. The harvest has been reaped and I find myself reflecting on what has come in – and what I want to sow for next year.
That's how it works: We sow and then we reap.
What I am reaping (harvesting) now is what I planted earlier this year and in the years prior to that.
This weekend we celebrated the big, yummy man's 45th birthday. Our home (the one we were so frantically working on in September!) was filled with light and love and laughter. And food. There is always a lot of food. 🙂
Seeing friends enjoying our space and each other as the party progressed filled me with joy and warmth. And even in the middle of hostessing and mingling I was able to feel peace. Wow! That's a different feeling.
Our oldest came home from University this weekend to help us celebrate. When he, Jordon, and the daughter left last night around 8 p.m. to take him back to school I stood at the door and said, "I love you." The best part was that I meant it. I could feel the love and the sadness mixing together as these three parts of my heart left the driveway.
That's new too. I used to be hard. I had a shell and no one was allowed in for fear that it would hurt me too much. There was no peace and no softness.
I am reaping what I have sown. And what I have been sowing this year – and for the past few years – is a new vulnerability.
A new trust.
A new surrender.
And even patience. (Phew! That one's a hard one.)
I am experiencing the same thing in my business. Last weekend was Embrace the Power of Your Mind (a chance to shine!) and it was just as powerful as the first one back in June. Lives were changed. Decisions were made. Transformation happened.
Yet there was craziness leading up to it. I even thought about cancelling it at the last minute as more and more people backed out.
"Is it worth it?"
"Is it in my highest and best interest to do this now?"
I kept asking. I kept checking in. I kept getting guidance. To be honest, I kept trying to chicken out. To listen to the little voice that was telling me I was failing.
But I kept moving, kept putting one foot in front of the other. I kept surrendering when all signs pointed to, "Yes, stay the course." And I am so glad I did. The weekend was a blessing to all of us. It was exactly what it was meant to be.
Trust.
Trust.
Trust.
Those who know me well, know that trust is not my strong point.
But I have been intentional about what I have been sowing. I set goals. I follow my Mission. I trust. I surrender. I practice and continue to see progress.
I am so grateful that, as October draws to a close and the wheel turns to a quiet, more introspective season, I am able to reap the peace and love and joy that come from making some big decisions over the past few years about how I want to live my life and who I want to be a part of it and what I want it to look like.
I want that for you too. I want you to be in your life, to have the space to actually feel your life, and to have the peace to feel your joy.
Saturday, November 22nd is our community give-back day. I'm calling it Super Saturday because it has the potential to be just that. For you it could be super. It's 3 separate workshops over the course of one day. Come for one, two, or all three. It's on us.
We're starting at 10 a.m. with a look at radical self-care, stress elimination (especially during the holiday season!), and time management.
At 2 p.m. we'll roll into Discovering Your Life Purpose – one of my favourite topics – to get clear about why we are here and how a life of passionate purpose could look and feel.
Finally, at 6 p.m., Jordon and I will be co-presenting Real Love, Real Conflict as we explore ways to fight fair in your marriage and why your relationship is worth fighting for. This will be a great date night for you and your spouse.
I'm so excited to be sharing these three workshops with you and I hope you find one or more that speaks to your heart and gets you excited.
They're open to the public so please share broadly. All I ask is that you Register here so that we know how many chairs to put out to welcome you into sacred physicality.
I hope you are reaping blessings and beauty in this harvest season and I know – from the top of my head to the tips of my toes – that if you want to create something extraordinary with your life we have the tools and passion for you. Just let us know what you are dreaming in that small sacred space inside of you and I'll let you know how we can help.
